For some reason I’ve always been afraid to try rhubarb.  My dad and my grandpa LOVE it.  Whenever it’s rhubarb season, they are both always asking my mom to bake them a rhubarb pie.  However, they’re the only two out of the family that eat it.  Since it’s that time of year, I’ve been seeing rhubarb recipes show up everywhere and wondering why I’ve never tried it…  I guess because we don’t get it from the garden or grocery store, but rather it grows as a weed right next to my grandpa’s house.  That fact always threw me off from trying it, and it didn’t help that my mom turned up her nose to it as well.  I’ve been afraid to try it on it’s own, but paired with strawberries and sugar it seemed feasible.  This weekend I finally found out what I’d been missing!  This crisp tasted fantastic.
