Gooey Cinnamon Balls (print recipe)
1 loaf frozen bread, thawed
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1/2 package (3.4 oz) butterscotch instant pudding
Cut bread into four rows, lengthwise. Then cut and roll into 1 inch balls. Dip into melted butter, then roll in cinnamon sugar mixture. Layer balls into a bundt pan. Sprinkle dry pudding over the top. Leave out overnight to rise. In the morning, bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Wait 10 minutes and then invert onto a serving platter.
I got this recipe from an old church cook book and we made it growing up. I hadn’t made it in a long time, and without looking at the recipe, I pulled out 1 loaf of bread before going and getting my weekly groceries. Later, when I started making the recipe… when the bread had finally thawed… I saw it called for 2 loaves of bread. Well, I only had one ready, so I decided to go ahead and cut the recipe in half. I was making it for my husband, and it’s just him and I, so half a batch was better anyway… However, to make a larger batch, simply double the ingredients and refrigerate overnight. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.
